atlaSORB™ is Atlas Carbon’s newest sorbent product designed specifically for the removal of mercury from coal-fired utility flue gas streams. It reacts chemically with both elemental and oxidized mercury to create a non-hazardous, non-flammable, and non-corrosive solid compound that can be captured by the plant’s particulate control system.
atlaSORB™ eliminates the need for halogens and the associated corrosion of metal components in the process.
atlaSORB™ preserves the plant’s fly ash for concrete and cement production, and the chemical components of atlaSORB™ can be varied to maximize the mercury capturing capability in each power generating unit.
